VOLUNTEERS.

Become A VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are the backbone of our events; our series planning and all race day efforts are made possible by countless volunteer hours. If you want to get involved and not sure how you can fit in, read the descriptions below. If you are unsure how you can help, message us and we will discuss a great option for you.

Trail marshals are an important part of making our races happen every year. Marshals are sent out throughout the race course to manage trail crossings, divert hikers from the trails, keep the racers on track, and report back to the race director. It is a bonus if you are familiar with the trails!

Race Leads head out onto the course before racers to ensure signage and timing equipment are in place, and ensure the course is clear and safe to ride. If you love to ride but wish to do so in a non-competitive nature (while also helping us pull of these races), this might be the role for you.

Race Sweep follows the riders to make sure everybody gets off the course safely. This is particularly important for people visiting from out of town who may get lost on the course or people with bike troubles and injuries. If you love to ride but wish to do so in a non-competitive nature (while also helping us pull of these races) this might be the role for you.

Race Course Setup and Cleanup is a big job, we need all hands on deck! Taping the course takes a lot of time and work, if you wish to help leading up to the race, this would be a great area to help with. The week after the race we do some hiking through the trails and clean up as we go, the more help we get the smoother cleanup is.

Series Planning goes on year round behind the scenes. If you want to help organize SJES events and shape the future of the series, please reach out. We are looking for more people to join our small volunteer team.

There are many other roles we need filled on race day, if you do not feel comfortable navigating the trail network, we will still have a role for you!
